WHO CAN ATTEND THE MEDICAL SCIENCES ACADEMY?
Any high school aged student living in the Kenosha Unified School District can attend the MedSci Academy.
WHAT TYPES OF STUDENTS WOULD BE A GOOD FIT FOR THE MEDSCI ACADEMY?
Middle school students that are strong in science and math, have a passion for healthcare, are self-motivated, problem solvers, goal-oriented and like to be challenged.
I AM AN 8TH GRADER WHO WANTS TO ATTEND THE MEDSCI ACADEMY. HOW DO I SIGN UP?
You must submit paperwork to the school before the deadline. We typically have more students apply than there are open spots. This is a lottery draw. Parents and students will be notified soon after on whether they have been selected.
WHY GO TO A SCHOOL FOCUSED ON THE MEDICAL FIELD?
The U.S. Department of Labor predicts over 4,700,000 new jobs will be created over the next four years as the baby boomer generation reaches retirement age. Â Currently, health care related occupations comprise 10 of the 20 fastest growing job fields. Â The time to prepare our future doctors, nurses, and health care workers is now.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF AN "ACADEMY"?
The school-within-a-school concept has been a successful model for many schools around the state.  Similar to charter schools, we feel that the academy structure fosters a more meaningful and effective relationship between teacher and student and allows the district to provide an educational program individualized to students’ interests.  We strongly believe that this directly contributes to our students' success.  Additionally, students are taking course with peers that share the same interests and dedication to their studies.
I AM A STUDENT THAT MAY BE TRANSFERRING INTO THE DISTRICT. CAN I STILL ATTEND THE MEDSCI ACADEMY?
As long as your primary residence is in Kenosha Unified School District borders, you may attend our academy.
